Albert Hausotter

Albert “Al” N. Hausotter, 94, former owner of Natural Structures in Baker City, Oregon, passed away on October 1, 2026, at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho.

Born in 1932 to Hans and Ruth Hausotter, Al was the fourth of seven children. Growing up on a sheep ranch, his childhood was filled with adventures and challenges that became cherished memories.

During the Korean War, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Iceland. He attended college through the GI Bill and met the love of his life, Grace, while attending the University of Oregon in Eugene.

After graduating from the University of Oregon with a master’s degree in parks and recreation management, Al worked as a park director and later as a professor.

In 1971, Al and Grace became small business owners, and the business remains in operation today. He enjoyed the positive nature of the business, especially watching families gather in his picnic pavilions and seeing children have fun on the water slides and playgrounds. He valued all his employees and was proud to help support their families.

On April 14, 1979, Al was baptized and received the holy sacraments of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his wife of more than 69 years, Grace; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and his younger brother, Frank Hausotter.

Rest in peace with our Lord.
