Henry "Hank" W. Harris

–

Baker City, Oregon

Henry (Hank) Wilson Harris, 87, passed away Sunday March 19, 2017 at his home on Mc Fadden Lane in Halfway, Oregon surrounded by his loving family.

Hank was born December 11, 1929 at Garden Grove, California to Asher and Mary Harris; he was the second of five sons. He graduated from Barstow High School in 1947. In 1952, he enlisted in the Navy and he trained to be an aviation machinist and spent time serving in the Korean War in Texas and Hawaii.

He met his beloved Carol Davidson in 1956 and they wed on August 25, 1957 in Lovelock, Nevada. Their married journey took them through 59 years together, raising their four children; Hugh, Joann, Mary and Kathy. They moved from Lovelock, Nevada to Halfway in 1960 and Hank began a life long love of farming, milking cows, raising beef, beautiful horses, mules, draft horses, not to mention cow dogs. He was a man of great strength in all aspects of his life, spiritually, mentally, and physically. If he loved something, he put his whole heart into, whether it was his family, ranching, rodeo, roping, riding, or enjoying the beauty of the surrounding mountains that he went to often.

Hank enjoyed hunting in his earlier years and watching wildlife later. His whole heart was his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and they knew they were loved beyond words. He said he had a wonderful life, knew he was born to do what he did, and was so blessed to live in beautiful Pine Valley. Hank had very fine friends that he loved and enjoyed. He worked hard and loved harder. As Carol put it, "Henry was his own man".

He is survived by his wife Carol; brother Donald Harris; son, Hugh (Laura) and his family, Cornti & Brad; daughter, Joann (Dusty) and her family, Ashli, Kaylei Jo, Trace, Carol, (Jake) & Tanalee; daughter, Mary (Brent) and her family Bobbi Jo, (Dan), Emory Grace, Mitchell, (Skye), Dotti Rose, & Henry Mitchell (on the way); daughter Kathy (Wade) and her family Chris, (Megan), Emberlynn, Adelaide, Chelsea, (Josh), Jackson, and Maxwell. Hank is also survived by many nieces and nephews that he treasured.

Hank was preceded in death by his parents, and three of his brothers; Byron, Ernest and Gerald Harris as well as many dear friends.
